One
of the most exciting events when breeding llamas, is cria
time. It's the culmination of all the decisions and plans
made almost a year earlier. Which stud
male should be joined to which female?
Will the cria be male or female? What colour? Will conformation,
temperament and fibre match expectations? Questions every
breeder ponders whilst awaiting the cria's birth.
The
last few months of pregnancy take forever … and finally,
when the cria arrives all those earlier thoughts are forgotten
… the only priority being the cria is able to stand and
nurse within the recommended 'couple of hours'!
